Hello -
I’m Malik, a designer and photographer based in Silver Spring, MD.  My work engages culture, community, and limitlessness with bold graphics and an animated vocabulary. My design process starts with research and writing, followed by iterative typographic and image-making explorations that  synthesize my findings. In contrast, my photography practice is intuitive and natural, balancing methodologies to tell stories, save the moment, and create form.

Matchstick Manifesto


A short film that personifies the thoughts and philosophy of a Match. I approached this project as a 4-week exercis
e in learning and process building. In the first week, I created an exhaustive list of connections regarding the word “match.” In weeks 2 and 3, I translated my findings into 50+ images and formal explanations. Finally, in week four, I synthesized my explorations cinematically.
